Dan’s Design Contest.

Dan is running his annual design contest again.

It's being repeated, in part, because of an argument of form vs. function. I'm going to side with Don Norman, and say that In a proper design, both are important. Though, if there is some imperfection, I think that having beautifully laid out information that is incomprehensible is worse than an eyesore that tells a good story. I'm suspect Dan comes down on the opposite side of that line.

Here then is my submission, which intentionally leaves a lot unsaid.

I at least can find some small improvements over last year. We learn as we go.

There's also a big version.

Nice. I really like the simplicity and the colours you've chosen.

I like this design a LOT more than last year's, BUT I don't like the story as well. This is like a Russian novel, bleak. I did like the couple holding hands last year, but I guess they can't all be Harlequin Romances.
